leaky power steering hose

karenstruck 9 August 2007 00:34:03
My power steering hose has just been replaced but is leaking. Only the the hose with the combined rubber and metal tubes was replaced. the nut thing that goes into the pump itself was not replaced. Please pardon my lack of technical terms. The leak is at the junction of the metal tube where it sits in the smaller nut thing. There is play in the metal tube at this connection (I can push the metal tube in or out slightly in the aforementioned area where the tube and nut sit together). So, question 1...should there be play in the tube at the connection described? and question 2...Is it possible that the problem would be fixed if I replaced the hose as a unit which would include the bigger nut that screws into the pump? thank you in advance to anyone that can offer some suggestions.
